Birthday Affirmations

Today’s card is a birthday card for my spunky sister in law. Her style is quite different from my own (I’m boring) so I struggle making cards for her. I think she’ll enjoy this funky paper by Studio Calico from the Here + There 6×6 pad that I just got. I love that it has positive affirmations all over it like “Thumb’s up – You are awesome!”, “Be Happy” and “Grow”… very fitting for her. I used last week’s sketch from Mojo Monday for the layout.  The sentiment stamps on the front are from the Fiskars cling set called All Year Cheer and die cut with Spellbinders Circles.  I did a little paper piercing on them and added Card Candi and layered everything with foam tape.

20131230postf@MisplacedMojo.com 20131230postc@MisplacedMojo.com 20131230postc@MisplacedMojo.com

The inside sentiment is also Fiskars, but from the clear stamp set called Make a Wish. I’ve had the set forever and this is probably the first time this one has been inked up, but its perfect for my sister in law.  I’m crafty, but she’s artsy 😉  More piercing, inked edges, Card Candi, and foam tape to tie it all in.  Here’s a look at the inside:

Merry Christmas Sharon! (and everyone else too!!!)

Today’s card is the one I sent my BFF.  She deserves something much more elaborate with layered die cuts, inking, embossing, coloring with Promarkers, or a special technique like Liquid Applique, Smooch, or at least Stickles.  Alas, time and mojo are both in limited supply.  What I lacked in technique I hopefully made up for in hardware 😉

20131224post@MisplacedMojo.com  20131224posti@MisplacedMojo.com

The focal was from a 12×12 sheet of 3×4 double sided focal images by Simple Stories.  I know she loves the rich colors of burgundy and olive, so I added a rich dark brown  and a subtle gray to the mix with patterned paper from the ‘Tis the Season 6×6 pad by Echo Park.  The focal and its mat were cut and embossed with Spellbinders Curved Rectangles dies. The focal, sentiment, mats and all the patterned paper were inked ever so lightly with Memento Rich Cocoa ink.  I love the stencil technique you can do with Spellbinders dies!  The focal and sentiment were popped up on foam tape for dimension. The ribbon slide and and loops were from a hardware pack sold by Oriental Trading Company.  The organza ribbon in brown and olive added the final touch.  Here’s another look at the details:

20131224postf2@MIsplacedMojo.com   20131224postc@MisplacedMojo.comThink she’ll like it?  Hopefully it will be in her mailbox today 🙂  She’s not allowed to read the blog until after she gets her package! Lol!  That is probably it for me until after the Christmas festivities, so I wish you all a safe and happy holiday!  Hope Santa brings you all kinds of crafty goodies!!!

3D Reindeer

I’m pleased to announce that all my presents are wrapped, all the Christmas cards mailed, and all the cookies baked.  Whoo-hoo!  OK, I had help from my awesome hubby to get the last of the presents wrapped yesterday, but I did everything else myself.  With 2 whole days before Christmas with no lingering to-do list, I had some time to play with paper today!!!  Check it out:

20131223post@MisplacedMojo.com  20131223postc@MisplacedMojo.com  20131223postr@MisplacedMojo.com

The Silhouette online store is having a 25% off sale on winter holiday shapes, and this cutie caught my eye.  It was pretty straightforward to put together but there *may* have been some colorful language muttered quietly while working on the hooves and head… quietly, mind you… not total frustration.  The results are worth it though.  I enlarged this guy as large as possible on the 12×12 mat by ungrouping the shapes, rotating the design and placing a couple pieces on several mats.  I highly recommend Zip Dry glue for all your 3D assembly needs.  It gives you a couple minutes of working time, can be undone and removed if necessary, but forms a permanent bond when allowed to dry.  It holds firm enough to let go after less than a minute (while still giving you time to adjust).  Oh and the BEST part?!?  You know how liquid glue always squirts out no matter how careful you try to be???  This rubs off with your finger, kinda like rubber cement, only better.

It was tough to photograph this guy… he stands 11″ tall to the tip of his antlers and is about 8″ long, and about 2″ wide.  After assembling the reindeer, I decided to dress him up for the holiday with a red ribbon and jingle bell.  Cute, right?  If you should decide to try to put him together, the Silhouette store has a link to a tutorial, but if you’ve ever done a 3D cut file, you’ll get this one put together with only a *little* muttering under your breath 😉

Holiday Teacher Gifts

Just a quick post to show you what I whipped up for my son’s teachers.  I’ve gotten to know a few of them this year, and though its middle school now, I couldn’t help but send them a little something… and yes, I had the kiddo’s permission, though he didn’t offer to distribute them for me!  I’m a volunteer often enough at school that I was able to get them taken care of.  I didn’t get a pic, but I also gave the school secretary a poinsettia plant for all she has done for me this year already.  Anyway, take a look at these Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark bars:

20131222post@MisplacedMojo.com

The bars are wrapped in the oldest Christmas paper I own, from some 12×12 pad I got from Walmart when I first starting scrapbooking maybe 8 or 9 years ago.  I figured if I didn’t use it for this I wasn’t likely to use it at all!  I stamped a Christmas image and border with Just Rite stamps and cut them out with an oval Spellbinder die.  Had I not been trying to finish these around midnight before the last day of school before the break, I would have also cut scalloped ovals to put them on.  The stamped images were colored with Promarkers, and I inked the edges of the ones with blue in the paper.  I did make custom tags on the Silhouette, but like a dork, neglected to take pics… and that was the one thing the school secretary raved about!  Go figure 😉  I made a total of 7 of these, with the others being duplicates of these papers.

Sketch N Stash Challenge

I’ve been pumping out the Christmas cards this week!  Nothing like waiting for the last minute 😉  Today’s card is for the daughter of my best friend… the niece I never had. I was at a loss for a design, so it helped tremendously to use a sketch. I loved the current sketch from Sketch N Stash, plus it got me to think about what I could use from the stash that had been neglected.  I’m happy with how it finally came out!

20131221post2f@MisplacedMojo.com 20131221post2i@MisplacedMojo.com

I used patterned papers from a Paper Studio All Seasons 12×12 pad I’ve had sitting around for far too long… at least a year, maybe two… but cute colors for a girl.  The digi images are both from Elizabeth Dulemba, who you know I’ve been collecting from for years now. They were sweet enough for the recipient without (hopefully) being too kiddie.  I just love the cute little mouse peeking out of the stocking! They were both colored up with Promarkers, though I have to admit I’m not happy with the results… I apparently grabbed the wrong paper to print on cause the colors bled.  Had I not been pressed for time to get the gift $ in the mail, I would have redone both images.  Both images are popped up on foam tape.

20131221post2c@MisplacedMojo.com  20131221post2c2@MisplacedMojo.com

The Happy Holidays stamp was from a Fiskars set just picked up this week from Tuesday Morning for a steal.  The Merry Christmas stamp was from the first Christmas stamps I ever bought… Christmas Owls(?) by Hero Arts, purchased at least 6 years ago.  The twine is only  6 months old but I should get credit for using it since there’s so much of it I’ll never use it all!  The card candi (also colored with Promarkers) is maybe a year old, and though not neglected, it too will never run out in my lifetime! Ha!

The die cut border was cut on my Silhouette, and I added a offset (shadow) layer to it so it would pop from the background better.  The money holder was my own invention, wrapping more of the All Seasons paper around a pencil and gluing as I went.  The money slid in easily when rolled up but won’t slip out until pulled out.

I am submitting this into the following challenges:

I’m also adding this to Elizabeth Dulemba’s gallery 🙂

A Dustin Pike Christmas

I made a cute little card for my dad using a handful of Dustin Pike images.  If you haven’t checked out his store or his blog before, you should cause he has the sweetest, light hearted images.  My dad could really use a happy, light hearted card around the holidays, so I try not to send him anything too sappy.  What do you think?  Will this make him smile???

20121221postf@MisplacedMojo.com  20121221posti@MisplacedMojo.com
I imported the digital stamps into my Silhouette software to size them and cut them out.  Then I colored them with Promarkers, and inked the sky of the background with Memento inks in Sky Blue, Danube Blue, and Paris Dusk using a sponge dauber.  I popped up the adorable Christmas carolers on foam tape after assembling the card using patterned paper from my stash.

Isn’t the inside sentiment so fitting???  I created it in the Silhouette software with a font I had on my computer and the music notes were once a freebie shape from the Silhouette store that I turned off the cut lines on so the whole thing would be a print and cut.  Easy peasy!  Love that I can use my digital images without having to cut and glue tiny items.

Be sure to check out the Dustin Pike sites if you like the illustrations.  How this guy isn’t the Tim Holtz of digis yet, I do not know!  Love them so much I bought a year worth of his monthly image packages.  Hope y’all are more ready for Christmas than I am… I should be wrapping presents, but instead I’m blogging… priorities, eh?  😉

Using Up the Stash challenges

Wow… 2 cards in 1 day.  I either found my mojo again or I just work better under pressure!  Pretty sure its the pressure… Ha!!!  I needed a quick Christmas card for my hairdresser, and this has her name all over it!  Following the sketch at Sketch and Stash, it came together fairly quick too.

20131214post2f@MisplacedMojo.com  20131214post2c@MisplacedMojo.com                                A peek inside: 20131214post2i@MisplacedMojo.com

I used kraft cardstock for the base, and I think the patterned paper was from an All Seasons pad from the Paper Studio… been in my stash for years.  I used a Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder I’ve had forever, then inked with Memories ink in Unicorn.  The stamps are in Memento Rhubarb Stalk.  I used same snowflake as last card, from the Silhouette store, only this time I covered them in Crystal Stickles, which hasn’t seen the light of day in a long time.  I designed the tree in the Silhouette software and embellished the ornaments with Fired Brick Distress Stickles and Cotton Candy Stickles.  Ribbon and a pearl are the finishing touches.  I love how the Sketch & Stash and Use It Tuesday challenges help revive those supplies that haven’t seen some love in a while!!!

White on White with a Splash of Green

Today’s card was inspired by the current challenge over at Love to Create, white on white with a splash of green.

20131214postf@MisplacedMojo.com     20131214posts@MisplacedMojo.com                              A peek at the inside: 20131214posti@MisplacedMojo.com

I knew I wanted to do a snowflake card when I saw the challenge description, and then I found the best snowflake paper for it in my stash from the We R Memory Keepers Yuletide 6″ x 6″ pad.  The snowflakes are from the Silhouette store and the labels are Spellbinders Labels #27 stenciled with Memento Bamboo ink.  The stamps are from a set called Happy Holidays from Oriental Trading Company.  Ribbon and adhesive pearls finished it off.

So, kind of a non-traditional Christmas card, but I think it makes the perfect all purpose winter holiday card.  I also had fun keeping it to just white and one color!

Christmas Advent Calendar

Today I’d like to share an advent calendar I made for my son.

20131208l 20131208cu MisplacedMojo.com

This baby is a substantial size… about 11″ x 11″. It was created from a Lori Whitlock file available on the Silhouette online store. And while there were a couple curses muttered under my breath during the construction of the frame, the rest came together quickly and easily. Thankfully there was a video tutorial available on Lori Whitlock’s site, and was very helpful in getting this thing together. I love that the boxes fit snugly enough that you can remove one without them all shifting, but its not so hard to remove it or put it back. The boxes are about 2″ x 2″ x 1″, and are perfect for a few Hershey kisses, a Lego minifigure, or a fun size candy bar. I wrap the items in a square of tissue paper to keep a certain boy from peeking in the holes for the finger holds. The cut file for the decorative fronts are included, though I picked my own font to use for the numbers. The giant paper bow on top was another Silhouette file, and was super easy to make.

20131208b MisplacedMojo.com 20131208c MisplacedMojo.com 20131208bo MisplacedMojo.com

I’m kinda funny about needing to change up Christmas decorations every few years. Because I knew I wouldn’t want to remake the whole project every year, I decided to use repositionable adhesive for the patterned paper fronts and numbers so I could change it up.  That frees me up to use it as a countdown calendar to other events too. I hope you like the project and challenge yourself to try a 3D cut file.  There are so many cool ones to choose from, and until through today all shapes are 50% off! I might just have to try another 😉  And hopefully my mojo has gotten a kick in the butt cause it went AWOL the last couple weeks!

Watercolor painting / experiment

Today I have something completely different to show y’all.  I am a huge fan of Lindsay, the Frugal Crafter who not only paper crafts, but also makes jewelry, knits, crochets, and paints.  In fact, I can’t think of a craft she can’t do!  For the last month or so she has been posting watercolor painting tutorials and I watch in fascination because she makes it look so easy.  Yet, I think “there is no way I could do that”.  Lindsay however, is a crafting cheerleader… bubbly, energetic, and most importantly encouraging.  Well, I finally decided to try it out since I had some unexpected alone time (read as “no witnesses to the watercolor carnage if it all went horribly wrong”).  I found a $4 set of watercolor paints at a closeout store awhile back thinking I could make ombre backgrounds, but almost a year later I still hadn’t done it.  Persuaded by Linsday’s most recent tutorial, I actually painted a scene!!!  Check it out… and those who actually have artistic ability, please be kind… its my first painting. EVER.  And no, its not corn dogs with mustard that fell in the grass, its supposed to be cattails, albeit from the viewpoint of a ladybug 🙂

DSC01917

The sky didn’t turn out the way I intended, but I don’t dislike it entirely either.  My paints definitely did not react the way Linsday’s do when she adds them to wet watercolor paper, so I suspect mine were already outdated when I bought them (the $4 price tag should have tipped me off), and they certainly haven’t gotten any fresher in the bottom of my drawer.  That said, I might have to ask Santa for a decent set and palette for Christmas.  Now I have to decide what to do with this?  Save it for posterity?  Nah.  Add it to a card?  Probably, and if it does you will be seeing it again!  (Sorry!)  I’m also going to have to take another look at some of those tutorials to see what else I can try.  Check out Lindsay’s blog and/or YouTube channel and see if you might be willing to experiment too!  I’ll be back in a day or two with a more traditional project 🙂

Autumn Harvest Challenge at PPPR

Today is the last day of the Autumn Harvest challenge over at Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbons.  I seem to work well under pressure!  Just kidding… these have been ready to go for a couple of days but I almost forgot to post them!!!  For my project, I made place cards using PPPR’s Thanksgiving Wear Cutting Files.  The set includes the head wear for all three, including collars (not shown):

20131110postg @ MisplacedMojo.com PPPR Thanksgiving-Wear-Cut

I used my Silhouette to cut the head wear, as well as to make the heads using 3 ovals.  The faces were stamped with Peachy Keen stamps.  The leaves and tags were cut with Spellbinders dies and popped up on foam dots.  “Give Thanks” was stamped and the names were handwritten.  Here’s a few close up’s of these cuties:

Trick or Treat

I know what you’re thinking… how many Halloween cards can the woman make in 24 hours?!?  You’d be surprised!  I know I was!!!  Ha!  😉  I didn’t make a thing last week and this week my crafty mojo is on overflow.  I’ve even been dreaming about projects to do!  Ah, but you didn’t come here to analyze my dreams, so I’ll get on with the craftiness… my final Halloween card of the season:

20131031post5f @ MisplacedMojo.com 20131031post5i @ MisplacedMojo.com

The cute little zombie is from Wonderstrange, a quirky site with a ton of free digis, though you must have a full appreciation of things wondrous and strange to enjoy them!  Put it this way… this zombie is pretty normal and tame for them!  But, I love zombies (and zombies love brains) and even a brain loving zombie would like this card 😉  This image was imported into the Silhouette software so I could do a Print & Cut, which allows me to either cut on the outside line of the image, or to any size “shadow” of the image.  Then she was colored with Promarkers and popped up on foam tape.  So fun to do zombie skin in gray and green!  The fitting sentiment on the front is from Create with TLC and was cut with the 4 Halloween Labels from the Silhouette Store.  The paper is from Echo Park’s Chillingsworth Manor 6×6 pad and wrapped with orange twine.  Inside I used a simple Heidi Swapp rub on and a freebie sentiment from ArtiCrafty by Rebecca.   A quick rounding of 2 of the corners, and that completed the card and my Halloween craft-a-thon!

I’m linking this one up to Create with TLC’s Show it Off party and then kicking back to enjoy what is left of Halloween.  Be back in a day or two with cards that are black, green, and orange!!!

A Deconstructed Halloween

If you’ve read my blog for any length of time (like, the last 30 days) you would know that my BFF and I are big fans of the card sketches at DeconstructingJen.com and use her archive to pick sketches we like.  Then we each whip up a card for whatever occasion we have a need for.  This week’s friendly challenge is using deconstructed sketch #38.  Here’s my take on the sketch:

20131031post4f @ MisplacedMojo.com 20131031post4i @ MisplacedMojo.com

I stretched out the sketch to make a 6×6 square card instead of rectangular.  The patterned paper is from Echo Park’s Chillingsworth Manor 6×6 pad.  The colored panels were embossed with Lifestyle Crafts Zig Zag embossing folder.  The image is this week’s freebie by Elizabeth Dulemba, which I colored with Promarkers and inked with Weathered Wood Distress Ink.  The sentiment is by ArtiCrafts by Rebecca.  Both images were imported into the Silhouette software and cut with the Print & Cut feature.  The inside is blank to write my own spooky message.  I think you will see this sketch again soon… I really liked the style and element placement.

I’m linking this to E’s gallery and I’ll be back with one more Halloween card before this fright night is over!

Are You Out of Your Gourd?

Hope you’re not tired of Halloween cards cause I have a few more up my sleeve!  This one is perfect for a friend who has somehow talked me into a Cross Fit class.  Maybe I’m the one out of my gourd because I actually agreed 😉

20131031post3f @ MisplacedMojo.com  DSC_0038

The image is another of Elizabeth Dulemba’s coloring pages, colored with my Promarkers and shabbied (if that’s even a word) it up with Distress Ink in Antique Linen.  I’ll be linking this card up to E’s Gallery.  The card sentiment is a freebie from Create with TLC.  Paulette has the best sentiments ever.  She generously shares a few freebies a week and has a ton of goodies in her store.  This one just cracked me up!!!  I’ll be linking this to her Show It Off party too.  Both images were imported into the Silhouette software and cut as a Print & Cut.  I use that feature so much now that I don’t know what I’d do without it.

The paper I used is super old Making Memories paper from my stash.  The label shapes are from the 4 Halloween labels again at the Silhouette store.  I have other label shapes… I swear!  These are just so perfect for Halloween cards especially so I can’t help myself.  A little orange and white twine, messy inking of edges and viola!  Done!

I’m entering this card in the Crafty Calendar Challenge for October’s Halloween theme.

Steampunk Halloween Card

Back for a 2nd post today… whoo hoo!  Just wanted to share the steampunk card I made for my son for Halloween.  He’s been on a steampunk / industrial kick for a few months so I thought he’d totally appreciate the style of this card:

20131031post2f @MisplacedMojo.com

The steampunk ghost and ghost hunter / explorer are digital freebies from Vince @ Crafty Moments.  He’s got some great images and he generously shares them for free.  I imported the pre-colored versions into the Silhouette software and did a Print & Cut.  In hindsight I wish I had given both images the same size shadow. That’s what I get for spreading the planning of this card out over several days!  The paper is from Carta Bella’s All Hallow’s Eve 6×6 pad.  I embellished with a strip of pewter Magic Mesh (which has been sitting untouched in my stash for years until now) and Card Candi in the corners.  I added paper and Magic Mesh scraps to embellosh the inside, and left the inside blank so I could add my own personal sentiment.  Considering I couldn’t add glitter, ribbon, buttons or bling, I think it came out pretty cool!  Let’s hope my 12 year old thinks the same!  Hope y’all have a safe and happy Halloween!!!

I am entering this at Crafty Calendar Challenges for their Halloween theme.

Happy Halloween!

Today I have a 3D project to share… a spooky little something I made for my son:

20131031postf @ MisplacedMojo.com20131031posts @ MisplacedMojo.com20131031postc @ MisplacedMojo.com

The cut file is a freebie from Bird at Bird’s Cards, and was cut on my Silhouette.  The file was a breeze to work with and assemble.  I really wanted to fill the eye cavities with small, black rhinestones, but since its for an almost teenage boy, I opted not to. *sigh*  In the effort to dress it up just a bit, I sprayed the skulls and crossbones with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist 😉  Click the close up to see the shimmer!  I had a couple treats and treasures to add to the container, but didn’t like how it looked, so I grabbed some of the spider web stuff you buy for Halloween decorating and added enough to cover the contents.  I think he’s going to like it!  I’ll be back in a bit with a Halloween card!!!

I’m entering this project in the Creative Cutting Challenge for their “Halloween – but not a card” challenge.

Karate Master

I whipped up a quick card today… it was so nice to get back to crafty fun after last week’s busy schedule.  It took more time to glue this card together than it did to get all the pieces ready!

20131030f @ MisplacedMojo.com 20131030postc @ MisplacedMojo.com

The adorable spiderweb image comes from TiffanyDoodles and the hysterical sentiment is one of my favorites from Create with TLC.  Is that funny, or what?  It is… cause we’ve all done it!  The label shape is a from the Silhouette online store and is one of 4 shapes perfect for Halloween projects.  The super cool bling ribbon I picked up from Michaels last week, and I used 6 itty-bitty rhinestones picked up from the Scrapbook Expo a couple years back… whoo-hoo, using up the stash a smidgen at a time.  At this rate I will run out of rhinestones, like, never. Let me tell you… those dang things are not adhesive backed and were not fun to glue down.  I’m surprised the card isn’t a gluey mess.  See, I’m not just a karate master… I’m a crafting ninja!  Ha!  🙂

20131030posti@MisplacedMojo.com 20131030posts@MisplacedMojo.com

The inside is simple… though I may add bling to the corners after I write a note in it.  I had to show you a close up of the inside sentiment though.  Not sure if you can see, but there is a tiny little spider on the “o” in “Halloween”.  Too cute!

I’m entering this card in the challenge at Cute Card Thursday for the spooktacular theme, and linking up for Create with TLC’s Show It Off party.  Running out of time to get those Halloween projects done!  Good luck getting your treats ready for your ghouls and goblins!!!

*UPDATED 10/30/13:  I am also linking this to the Silhouette Weekly Challenge for their Halloween theme using a shape from their store.  As mentioned above, I used the 4 Halloween Labels set for the inside sentiment.*

Halloween Spell Books

Today I would like to share my Halloween mantle decor for this year and talk about the books I made for the vignette. This will be a picture laden post 🙂

20131017mantle @ MisplacedMojo.com

I really love Halloween and with my son getting older, I wanted to lose the cutesy Halloween decorations in favor of something a bit spookier.  I used several of my husband’s old college textbooks as well as a couple I picked up from Goodwill.   I made 7 books total, but today’s post is just about my favorite 3.

The first is my absolute fav of the bunch.  This old Accounting book was first distressed a bit.  Then with the help of my handy, dandy hot glue gun, I added the ridges on the binding and the spider web on the front.  After the glue cooled, I spray painted the whole thing.  The title on the spine was cut on my Silhouette from silver vinyl and coated with Mod Podge.  I hot glued a plastic spider on the web for the pièce de résistance.

20131029spellsl@Misplaced Mojo     20131029_084206

Next up is a book on the History of Witchcraft.  Again the book was distressed a bit, the edges of the pages inked with Distress Inks to age them.  The title was cut on my Silhouette, but then painted gold.  When I removed the letters, the paint on the surrounding vinyl started to flake onto the cover.  I really liked the look of the flakes so I added them to the cover and Mod Podge’d the whole book. Serendipity!  I wish I had used matte Mod Podge to see the shine of the flakes better, but I’m still happy with how it turned out.

20131029historyl @ MisplacedMojo.com20131029_084451

And last but not least is the book on Poisons.  This one was fun to do!  I used one of my husband’s belts that had seen better days, but out the rough parts and used the good parts to seal this dangerous book 😉  Once again the hot glue gun was employed to attach the pieces, but I left it so that you could actually undo the belt and open the book.  The title was cut on the Silhouette… love that font… and crossbones from the Dollar Store was hot glued to the spine.  I thought that was the perfect touch for a book on poisons, don’t you think?!?

20131029poisons @ MisplacedMojo.com20131029_085057

I had a blast making these books.  Some of you may think I’m crazy… or maybe a real witch just posing as a crafter…  but I assure you I’m just a good mom trying to squeeze out a few extra years of special Halloween memories for my son.  Besides… if you think this is crazy, wait until I show you my apothecary jars!!!  *scary witch cackling*  😉

Tickle your funny bone

I was just playing around tonight with some Halloween digital stamps and this card came together really quickly:

20131019 Misplaced Mojo  20131019postc

The skeleton is a coloring page from Elizabeth Dulemba subtly shaded with Promarkers, and the sentiment is from Create with TLC.  I cut the sentiment and its layer on a label shape from the Silhouette store.  The striped paper is from a Slice paper pad from Making Memories simply called Black & White.  A couple adhesive-backed pearls finished the card off.  I’m probably too late, but I plan on submitting this to the challenge over at Creative Cutting Challenge where the theme of the week was Halloween cards.  I’ll also be linking up to Show It Off Sunday at Create with TLC.  Have a great weekend!!!

Eek! A special Halloween card

I am so excited to show you a special card I received in the mail!   Today’s card is courtesy of Sharon, the only official Guest Designer here at Misplaced Mojo.  I’m hoping to showcase quite a few of her projects (hint, hint Sharon!) in the coming months!  🙂  Have a look at what may be my favorite of her creations so far:

Sharon’s frightfully cute card was designed using Sketch #47 from deconstructingjen.com, one of our favorite go-to sites for sketches.  I love all the layers on this card!  The spider web is actually a Just Rite background stamp used to make the 4 panels which were then matted.  The creepy but cool spider was cut from the October 31st Cricut cartridge and embellished with red gems for eyes and white gel pen, and popped up for dimension.  She used the Sew Easy weave ribbon punch with glitter ribbon from We R Memory Keepers.  A perfect sentiment was stamped, cut and layered using Spellbinders oval dies.  I love how she used black gems to embellish the sentiment and to add detail to the centers of the spider webs!!!  The perfect touch though was the embroidery floss!  Sharon finished off the inside of the card with more Just Rite stamps… gotta love all those spiders!

So much to love about this card!  I’m a big fan of layers and Sharon knows how much I love the black & white color combo!!!  Glitter, ribbon, gems… so much detail it brings a smile to my face when I look at it.  This card has earned a prime spot on my Halloween mantel… perhaps I will share some of those projects before Halloween!

Eek!  Halloween is only 12 days away!!!  Too soon to buy candy (unless I want to eat it all myself) but not enough time to get other projects done!
