Sending Hugs – Jane’s Doodles Plumeria

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

This week’s challenge at Jane’s Doodles is Spring. This Plumeria set was perfect to make a springy card to help a friend who really needed to see some flowers. I don’t know her well so I wasn’t sure what types or colors of flowers she likes the most, but I’m hoping this makes her feel a little better all the same. I really need better photography skills and gear cause the picture does not match real life in color. Trust me that the flowers range from a delicate light pink to a a warm peach with pops of bright pink in the centers. On my monitor the colors are yellowed out terrible despite the bright lights I used. I used every single image from the Jane’s Doodles set, colored them with Tombow markers and fussy cut them out. There are no sentiments included in the set, so I dug through my stash and found a set by My Favorite Things called Greetings Galore with the sentiment I wanted to use, which I stamped in Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink as the color was the closest match I had. I decided to ink blend the edges with a little Wild Honey and Pickled Raspberry oxides to match the flower colors. I may spatter the panel with watered down inks before I mail it as it seems to be missing something but I’m afraid to mess it up experimenting right now. LOL!

The inside has a simple Thinking of You sentiment from the same MFT set in Pickled Raspberry.

Thanks for visiting today, and I hope these flowers make you smile during this crazy time we are in right now. We need to lift each other up any way we can, and for me, that is going to be through handmade cards… though I will write on the envelope that I completely understand if she doesn’t open it for 14 days! 😁 She can see it here on the blog until she’s comfortable opening the envelope!!!

Wishing you a Speedy Recovery with JDS

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

Isn’t this bear adorable??? My best friend’s mom (and my surrogate mother) is having hip surgery soon. While this bear’s injury is to his head, I’m sure she will appreciate the sentiment! This set from Jan’s Digi Stamps, called Get Well Bear, has the main image as well as several sentiments, and accessory images that I chose not to use for this card. As typical of Jan’s images, they come in color and b/w. I love coloring, so I almost always opt for the b/w version. Though if I need a card in a hurry, I appreciate the ability to print of a colored version and the card is ready in a jiffy. This card is my DT piece for the current March challenge at So where it is truly an Anything Goes challenge!!!

MisplacedMojo.com

I printed the image and used a square die from Simon Says Stamp to cut it out. I used Tombow markers to watercolor this image. There are several sentiments to choose from but I picked this 2 part sentiment as it is perfect for post surgery rehab. I die cut the first half with a fishtail banner die and used that as a guideline to make the mat for the banner. On the inside, I added the rest of the sentiment and matted it on matching green cardstock and patterned paper.

We also have some changes coming up in April.  We’ll be moving to a monthly challenge starting on the first Monday of each month and ending, as usual, on the Sunday before the new challenge.

In addition to that, we will be doing two, separate, random draws each month; one for those who use a Jan’s Digi Stamps image and one for everyone else. Each winner will receive a gift certificate worth $10 which can be spent at the Jan’s Digi Stamp store. If you use a JDS image, your chances of becoming a winner are so much greater and you can add to your collection of beloved JDS sets that much faster.  😀  Now, head on over to the challenge site to see what the rest of the DT created and to enter your latest creation (card, scrapbook page, quilt, baking delicacy, etc) for your chance to win! Make sure you are a follower of the blog as its the only requirement for winning!!!

March DT Post for Jan’s Digi Stamps

Hello everyone! Today I would like to share with you the DT cards I made for the current Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge! You can find the most amazing images in Jan’s Digi Stamp Store and Jan is adding NEW ones all the time! This card was made with one of her new sets for March, called Birthday Buddies. Isn’t this just the cutest?!? The best part about Jan’s sets are how many images come in them… this particular set comes with 20 including black/white outline images, pre-colored images, and multiple sentiments. I couldn’t pick just 1 from this set so I ended up making multiple cards!!!

I *had* to use this super sweet image from the set. Not only do you get the image in both b/w and color, you get it both with and without a additional banner in the scene. I printed both the image and sentiment on the same panel, then used Prismacolor pencils to color the images. I contemplated making the critters fun, stuffed animal colors but decided to go more realistic this time. After assembling the card, I decided to make my own embellishment from scrap paper and Flower Soft (remember that stuff?!?) and popped it up on foam tape for dimension. I added a line of adhesive gems to the bottom to add more green to pull out the color from the patterned paper. Man oh man, were those gems fiddly, but I like how it turned out!

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

Next up is this CAS card using the birthday cake image and 1 of the sentiments. I colored the cake with Prismacolor pencils and matted the card front on coordinating patterned paper and cardstock. Quick and easy to pull off with these digi stamps. It would be even faster had I used the pre-colored image, but knowing 1 of my teamies would likely use that, I opted to personalize the color here and coordinated it with my patterned paper. I’m proud of myself because all of the patterned paper and colored cardstock came from my scrap bin! Whoo-hoo, making a tiny dent in the pile! I rounded the corners on all pieces, and added some adhesive pearls to finish it off! This one is my favorite of the 2 cards. 😊

There you have it! Now, take a moment to pop on over to Jan’s Digi Stamp Challenge blog to see what the rest of the DT created. Then, create a project of your own… *any kind of project*… it doesn’t even need to be a paper project and doesn’t have to use Jan’s digi stamps… and upload it to the challenge. Just remember, to win the challenge you need to be a follower of the challenge blog! That’s it… and be sure to come back because you can enter up to 5 times and enter as many other challenges as you like! And be sure to take time to browse the Shop to get some of Jan’s fun sets for yourself!!!

March 2CCC DT Post With a Very Special Sponsor

I have the immense pleasure of sharing the cards I made with a digi set from the incredible artist, and my friend, Donna Ellis of Creative Smiles! I had so much fun playing with this set I made 3 cards!!! As you know, the 2 Crafty Critter Crazies challenge is always Anything Goes with a Critter. We’d love if you come play along this month where the prize is the image set the DT used!!! First up, my owl cards:

b/w image MisplacedMojo.com pre-colored image MisplacedMojo.com

This set, Great Horned Owl was originally created by Donna for Sparkle N Sprinkle and comes with a total of 17 images and sentiments! I like that each image comes both black and white and color, and in both jpeg and png. I immediately knew how I wanted to use the owl image. Using my Silhouette, I traced the owl images to cut along the edge. I prepped one colored owl and one b/w. I used masking paper to create the background by using a circle die to make the moon, and utilizing both the positive and negative masks to ink the background with Distress Oxides. It was so easy to get a smooth blend and I love how the sentiment is highlighted this way! For the b/w owl image, I colored it up with Prismacolor pencils and did the same ink blended treatment. Each panel was splattered with white paint for stars and then shimmer spray to make everything sparkle! An owl image was popped up with foam tape on each panel. Shame the shimmer is so hard to capture in photos! On to the 3rd card:

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

There are these beautiful branches in the image set too, and I couldn’t *not* use them! Since they seemed so simple and elegant, I decided to do a CAS card using the left and right images. A little die cutting, a little ink blending, and a tiny bit of pencil coloring… and done! A few iridescent rhinestones finished it off.

This set is only available as the prize for the current 2CCC challenge, as Donna doesn’t have a store front or online site for purchases. However, she continues to blog at Creative Smiles, where she frequently creates and donates her amazing sentiments and the occasional image! Be sure to check out her blog as she posts great stepped-out tutorials too! And head over to 2CCC to see how the rest of the DT used this image and to submit your critter projects to try to win this set!

February DT Post for Jan’s Digi Stamps

It’s time for the 2nd challenge of the month at Jan’s Digi Stamp Challenge Blog! Remember, the challenge is truly Anything Goes… any project of any kind! The DT team is making papercrafting projects with one of Jan’s Digi Stamps latest releases, but you could submit an entry to sewing, jewelry, or even baking! Now let’s talk about Jan’s new image sets. In time for Easter, she released a set called Cottontail Easter that was so much fun to play with that I made 2 cards and still didn’t get to use all the images included! My card’s feature this adorable bunny (both with and without a bowtie!) which I printed in black and white but the set also comes with precolored images. The set includes a variety of Easter eggs, some plain and others with florals. I was sad I ran out of time to play with the floral eggs! Let’s take a look at the cards, shall we?

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

I used the (naked) bunny for a traditional Easter card. I used the Silhouette to print and die cut the images and added the included sentiment to one of the eggs for fun. The bunny is colored with Prismacolor pencils and the eggs, as well as the background, are ink blended with Distress Oxides. I used a stencil to create the grassy bottom.

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

For my 2nd card, I also used the Silhouette to die cut my bowtie bunny for a love card, perfect for just about anyone! This one was also colored with Prismacolor pencils and the background is relatively similar, but with the focus on the banner cut sentiment, also included in the set. With another 3 sentiments to choose from, I could easily have made another 3 cards, all with the variety of floral eggs!

Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t share the other new sets Jan released this month. Its called Block Sentiments and Block Alphabets, and as their names implies they are a variety of useful sentiments and alphas that look like blocks placed next to each other. I ran out of time to play with this set but hope to in the coming months! Jan is adding new sets all the time so be sure to check out the new sets frequently!

From here you want to head to the Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge blog to see how the rest of the DT used the new image sets. Then you’ll want to hit Jan’s Digi Stamps shop to browse all of her amazing digi stamp sets packed with images and sentiments in so many themes! Then be sure to head back to the Challenge blog to submit your entry! Use of Jan’s images aren’t necessary, but if you have them we’d love to see how you use them! Remember you can submit 5 entries but you need to be a follower of the blog to win!

Friendship Hop 3 card bonanza!

The amazing Courtney Kreeber has organized an awesome hop of crafters in the community that you may not have heard of before along with the help of Renee Moran. I’m thrilled to be a part of the group! The first hop has a friendship theme to bring us together, especially as most of us don’t have any crafty friends IRL. I got so excited, I couldn’t stop at 1 card, so I made 3!!! Let’s get to it!

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

First up is a super fun card made with My Favorite Things Sunshine and Friendship set. I had such a great time coloring up all these images with Prismacolor pencils that I had to include them ALL! The background is ink blended with Distress Oxides and a blender brush. I added accents with a white gel pen to the images and added a black gelly roll pen to the eyes and noses of the critters. The sentiment from the set was stamped in Versaclair Nocturne and heat embossed in clear. I love how this card turned out! I didn’t blend out the coloring with Gamsol for the critters so they would have fur like texture. Next up is something a little different…

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

Like many card makers, I love coloring floral images! This beauty is from Ink On 3’s Dogwood Flower set. Again, I used my Prismacolor pencils to add color, using only the pencils this time to blend. The simply fabulous sentiment (pun intended) is from the same set. I used a frame die from Spellbinders called Candlewick to showcase the focal image. A few sequins from my stash in pink and black, and this card was done! This card came together surprisingly fast, given that I colored while watching my son play video games. The rest just fell in place!

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

This last card is another critter scene. I bought a few *cough… bunch… cough* of MFT’s sets with Christmas money and I was eager to use another one. These cuties are from a set appropriately named Squirrel! and were also colored with Prismacolors. Same routine… oxide background, Prismacolors, sequins, done! And what about that sentiment… I love that we’re all crazy about this hobby and that y’all *get it* when I say I had so much fun I couldn’t stop!

Well, that’s it for me today. Big shout out to Courtney for pulling this together!!! I’m just as eager as you guys to check out the rest of stops on the hop. Next up on the hop is Teresa with a YouTube video at her channel, so head on over and see what she created. And be sure to swing by Courtney’s blog and YouTube channel for all the details and the full list of participants. Be sure to subscribe along the hop to the crafters that made you smile today! And to leave a comment here if you liked my cards! And click the links for more info on Courtney, Renee, and the Facebook group of crafters.

February DT Post for Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge Blog

I am so honored to announced that I am a new member of the DT for Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge Blog! Every month is Anything Goes, and while you don’t have to use one of Jan’s amazing images to win, we would love to see you use them if you have them! Stamp designers are always so inspired to see how you use their images, and Jan is no exception. She loves to comment on all the projects entered into the challenges! And note that I said projects… not just cards, anything you create whether its with stamps, or sewing, or even baked goes… truly Anything Goes! You can enter up to 5 times, just be sure to be a follower of the blog to win!

MisplacedMojo.comMisplacedMojo.com

So now on to the cards… yes, plural!!! I used the set from Jan’s Digi Stamps called Friendship Flowers. Jan’s digi sets come with both black and white and precolored versions, as well as sentiments. I first had to print and play with the precolored image and used orange patterned paper to bring out the beautiful orange flowers in the bouquet. But soon after making that card, I just *had* to color up those amazing blooms myself!!! I selected patterned papers first to determine my color palette, and colored the image up with Prismacolor pencils. I’m so pleased with how this turned out! I used my Silhouette to print the images and die cut them out. I printed off extra as this image is great for practice. I’m still in my colored pencil journey, and I want to keep improving! I didn’t want to distract from the beautiful image so I only embellished each card with a spattering of gems in coordinating colors. Here are close ups and views of the insides:

Now, having seen the beauty of this set I know you will want to head over to Jan’s shop to see what else she has that you *need* in your crafty stash! For my cards, I used a set called Awesome Chick. and I had so much fun playing with it I ended up with 2 cards. But with so many sentiments to choose from in this set, I could have easily could have made 3 more for different occasions. I used my Silhouette to print one of the precolored images as well as a black and white version that I colored with Prismacolor pencils to match patterned paper I selected. The precolored image is the the card with the blue and yellow plaid, and the one I colored with Prismacolor pencils in the multicolored plaid. I just love a good pastel plaid for Easter, don’t you?!? I wanted the image to take center stage, so I used the sentiments inside the cards. Take a look:

2 Crazy Critters Challenge DT post with Bugaboo Stamps

MisplacedMojo.comBugaboo Stamps

Howdy all! What a crazy and wonderful time of year, right? I’m up enjoying all the holiday festivities with my family but wanted to pop in with a card for 2CCC’s January challenge! I used Bugaboo’s Hedgie Birthday 02 to make a sweet birthday card for someone special. I used Prismacolor pencils to color this little cutie up. Here’s a closer picture:

MisplacedMojo.com

This isn’t the only awesome image from Bugaboo Stamps either! You should head over and check out all they have to offer! Be sure to check out their Freebies and Sale page first as new images are 50% off the first week, and they post a new freebie every Friday!!! For that matter, sign up for their newsletter so you don’t miss any of their new releases or promotions! Annnnddd… don’t forget to see what the rest of the 2CCC DT has made for the challenge, and to play along with any creation you have made *with a critter*. It doesn’t have to be a Bugaboo image even though they are this month’s awesome sponsor!

Couple notes on this card… I used Pink & Main Rounded Rectangle dies for the image and sentiment. The patterned paper from The Paper Studios had glitter accents, so I added Stickles to parts of the image and added glitter epoxy dots from Pink & Main as accents.

Believe in the Magic of Christmas Silhouette card

***** Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all! May 2020 bring you good health, happiness, and lots of crafting!!! I hope we all have lots of crafty mojo all year long! But remember, if you feel like you lost the mojo, use the time to organize your craft supplies and you are bound to find it in the process! *****

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

On this Christmas Eve, I have a quick and easy card for you! I used my Silhouette to die cut this beautiful layered Snowflake cut file (#35260) by Snapdragon Snippets. I used a rectangle Simon Says Stamp Stitched die for the mat, which I also inked the edge of with Distress Oxide ink. As the focal is already quite large and covers most of the background, I didn’t want to cover even more of it with a sentiment. I opted to use vellum for the sentiment, which is from Inakindado’s Winter Silhouettes, heat embossed in Wow white embossing powder. The sentiment inside is from a Gina K Designs set called Blessed is the Season.

I love the simplicity of this card design and I have a million ideas for varieties of this design. Its also a great way to use up all those 6×6 paper pads we’re hoarding! Stay tuned, because in the new year I hope to have some tutorials for using up those 6×6 pads… so we can buy some more of them 😉

CAS Watercolor – Merry Christmas

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

I unmounted all of my wood mount stamps in batches. Christmas stamps were the first to get done, cause I wanted to make sure they would get more use than they have sitting in a drawer collecting dust. Now my Christmas wood mounts are in stamp pockets, grouped by manufacturer when possible. Today’s card uses a 1999 stamp made by a company called DeNami Designs, who is amazingly *still* in business! I don’t know the name of this stamp or if it is still available, though I suspect the design is retired. I heat embossed the image in white on a 4×6″ card base made of watercolor cardstock. Then I painted the image and sentiment with Gansai Tambi watercolor paints. I love the simplicity of this stamp and the card itself.

Stanley’s Bauble – Guest DT post for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies

MisplacedMojo.com

Hey everyone! Its that time again, a new monthly challenge at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies!!! As always, the theme is Anything Goes with a Critter, and for December the DT is showcasing stamps from this month’s sponsor Beccy’s Place! Now, I don’t know if you have ever checked out her site, but Beccy has so many awesome stamps and sets to choose from, including both clear stamps and dies as well as digi stamps. Today for my DT post, I’m using a digi stamp called Stanley’s Bauble, which is a freebie on the Beccy’s Place blog. Super cute, right? He was so much fun to color with Prismacolors! I used Pink & Main Rounded Rectangle dies to cut out Stanley, and the mats. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp set called Holiday Hellos. I added sequins, Stickles, and black and white Sakura Glaze gel pens for his eyes, and a silver Wink of Stella for the ornament cap. Here is a close up:

MisplacedMojo.com

I’d love it if you came over to the 2CCC challenge blog and post your critter cards this month!!! I also think you should run over to Beccy’s Place and check out the stamps she has available. Now, keep in mind you don’t need to use on of her stamps to enter the 2CCC challenge. And while you are at it, check out the challenge on Beccy’s blog as well, where you can win a store credit for her images!!!

Gingerbread House from Beccy’s Place and Pink & Main

Edited to add: If you are looking for my Guest DT post for 2 Crafty Critter Crazies, please see *this post*.

Have you ever checked out Beccy’s Place for stamps? Today I’m using a digi stamp from her Gingerbread set and I chose to make it into a shaped card! Fun, right?

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

I used my Silhouette to scale the digi to card size and to cut it out as well as an identical outline shape to use for the back of the card. I used Bristol paper knowing I would probably watercolor the image. I used Tombow markers to color not only the gingerbread house but a few images from the Pink & Main set called Cocoa Kisses. Once the card front was dry I added Nuvo pearl drops in all the places snow/icing would be, and added Cotton Candy Stickles to the places that would be candy. Here’s a look at the inside:

MisplacedMojo.com

The sentiment is from the Pink & Main set mentioned above, as are the gingerbread man and assorted cookie shapes. I used the Nuvo pearl drops for icing again here. The lollipop was coated in Stickles and the icing on the cookies were coated in Nuvo Glaze. As a final touch, I used a black Sakura Glaze pen to trace the gingerbread man’s features to give them a raised, glossy look like icing.

My next post will also be using an image from Beccy’s Place for my Guest DT post for 2CCC.

Still Young at Heart with Art Impressions

MisplacedMojo.comMisplacedMojo.com

Art Impressions make some of the best people stamps, and this one called Retirement is no exception. While it includes some great retirement sentiments, it also have some great birthday sentiments which I chose to use on this card. Where to start? How about the background… I used a Gingham Cover a Card background from Impression Obsession in red. Then for the images, I stamped and colored them with Prismacolors, then fussy cut them out. I paper pieced the man’s shorts and the dog’s shirt in a gingham patterned paper from my stash. I love how that turned out!!! Now for die cutting… I stamped the inside and outside sentiments, then die cut the outside sentiment with a Quote Bubble die from Cutter Bee. I also cut 2 circles with Spellbinders Circle dies, 1 in white and 1 kraft to coordinate with the coloring. I used blender brushes to ink blend the white circle with Distress Oxide inks to represent grass and sky. After some fiddling I decided on a layout for the images. For finishing touches, I added Nuvo Glaze to the camper windows, man’s eyeglasses and glass. (Why, in this time of technology, is it so hard to capture shiny stuff in a picture?!?) I added black Sakura glaze pen to the eye and nose of the dog and white gel pen to the camper wheels. But that’s not allllll……

MisplacedMojo.comMisplacedMojo.com

I colored up another image from the same set also with the combo of Prismas and paper piecing. I gotta tell you, skin tones are hard. I’m hoping it looks like the people have a little sunburn going on from sitting outside all day drinking lemonade! Anywhoo, she got the same treatment of Nuvo Glaze and that was it! Hard I as tried, I could not find an embellishment that looked right for this card. I have plenty of time before I have to mail it, so maybe I’ll find something. Leave me a comment and tell me what you would try!!!!! Oh, and my inspiration for this card was from a birthday card from my bestie, which also using Art Impressions images. Here is the card I received (Cute, right?!?):

MFT Birthday Challenge – Feeling Sentimental

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

This month’s birthday challenge at MFT is text based only, no images! Initially I thought that was a tough challenge but then the mojo started flowing and the ideas kept coming! This is my first attempt, using MFT Birthday Speech Bubbles in a rainbow of colors. I added strips of diagonal  striped paper from MFT’s black and white striped paper pack to the edges of the card base. Then I trimmed down the stamped panel and popped it on top. Added a few flat matte black epoxy dots from Eyelet Outlet and it was done! Easy peasy!!! I have to admit that while I had these stamps out, I stamped off a couple others in different color combos, so you may see this card’s cousin very soon!

2 Crafty Critter Crazies and the Paper Shelter

I’m proud to announce that I have joined the ladies at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies on their Design Team! Be sure to head over and check out their fun challenge blog where every month they want you to feature any critter on your project! Fun, right? November’s challenge is sponsored by The Paper Shelter, where you can find a ton of incredible digi stamps and printables. Be sure to grab your beverage of choice and kick back awhile while you peruse their store!

Today’s cards (yes, plural!) uses a digi called Holy Night from The Paper Shelter. Isn’t this deer adorable?!? I had so much fun with this image I had to make 2 cards!!!

First up is the teal version… click on any picture to enlarge it.

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

I printed the digi on Bristol paper and colored with Prismacolor pencils, then die cut it with a Spellbinders circle die, then ink blended the edge. I layered the focal image on a Spellbinders small scallop circle die in white. I used Rinea foil paper in teal on the lower left corner and teal card stock on the upper right, separated by a dark teal strip. My sentiment is from Power Poppies Glistening Paperwhites set, stamped in teal and both the sentiment strip and its mat were cut at the same angle as the background. The snowflakes are from the Momenta Snowflake Border die set, which I cut apart to use individually. I added gems from Pretty Pink Posh’s Starry Sky mix. Now for the purple edition:

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

Mostly the same materials, but slightly different layout! This time the focal image and mat was die cut with Pink & Main’s stitched rounded rectangle dies, and with purple Rinea foil. I cut the background papers on a diagonal added strips of white glitter paper to separate the colors. More of the same snowflake dies, only this time embellished with flat back adhesive pearls from Want 2 Scrap. This one uses a sentiment from a stamp set by Holiday Trendz (aka Forever in Time) called Poinsettia.

So which version do you prefer? Please leave me a comment and let me know, and be sure to head over to 2CCC and our sponsor The Paper Shelter!

Batty Without You

MisplacedMojo.com

Not *exactly* a Halloween card, though the timing is fitting! This vampire cutie is from a Close to My Heart set called Creepy Creatures, which was easy to color up with Prismacolor pencils as most of the image stamped black. I used 2 sizes of Inverted Scalloped Circle dies from Spellbinders to cut a black mat and vellum layer for this little guy to rest on. On a whim, I checked the current sketch challenges and was thrilled to find something that I could make work at Sunday Stamps. I’ll be the first to admit I am not great at using sketches, but I think I nailed this one! I used a different set for my sentiment, Frightful Friends by MFT to make it the perfect card for my bestie! A little patterned paper and cardstock scraps from my stash, and this was done! I’m sad I didn’t have time to use the other images in this set before Halloween this year but I tend to work on holiday cards at odd times of year, so you may see this set again on the blog before New Year’s!

Beware… Happy Halloween!

I love how spooky this card turned out!!! I used a set from Recollections, the Michaels brand. Sadly they do not name their sets, but the #520996 was on the back. I used 2 images on the outside and 2 images on the inside. I’m still on my Prismacolor kick, so these were colored with pencils and I fussy cut all the images. I’m using the sketch challenge from The Paper Players for this layout. I used a SSS stitched square die to cut a vellum mat for the the focal image to help it stand off from the busy background paper and popped it up on foam tape, as well as the sentiment banner. The jack-o-lantern is popped up on extra foam tape to lift it up higher than the focal. The photos of this card do not do it justice and IRL the colors are deeper and the card is much gloomier. *sigh*

This card came together so quick! The background is ink blended with Distress Oxides with a stencil from CAS-ual Friday called Curtis. The focal image and sentiments are from the Simon Says Stamp set called Creepy Cute. I colored with kitty witch and EEK! sentiment with Prismacolor pencils and fussy cut them out. I die cut circles to pop the cat onto. The BOO! sentiment was die cut with a banner die from the Cutter Bee Banners die set. For a finishing touch, I added Nuvo Glaze to the kitty nose and buckle of the witch hat, and some colored rhinestones from my stash. I also added Wink of Stella to the witch hat and EEK! sentiment to add a wee bit more shine. You can see it if you click to enlarge this picture.

MFT Delightful Deer

My Favorite Things had a couple of challenges this week that I miraculously thought I could pull off… in one card! Take a look!

MisplacedMojo.com

I used the My Favorite Things Delightful Deer dies to cut the deer in white and inked them with a few shades of brown inks. I whipped up an ink blended circle background with Distress Oxides in Carved Pumpkin, Wild Honey, Pumice Stone, and a hint of Hickory Smoke, and matted it on another circle inked with Pumice Stone. I cut some snow drifts to use as my border and inked them as well. The bottom of the front panel is stamped with MFT’s Sweater Stitch background with Pumice Stone to match the rest of the card. The sentiment is from MFT’s Jingle All the Way (!).

Side note: I keep my Christmas stamps separate for ease of buying out my holiday cards, but I never would have found this sentiment if it hadn’t been for cataloging my stamps in Evernote! I love that when I make a card and need the perfect sentiment, I can search my digital catalog / inventory by keyword, theme, or manufacturer. This turned out to be *the* perfect stamp, the right message and the right size. I use Evernote for so much, both crafty and life purposes. One day I ought to do a post on that as I think it would help those struggling to remember what they have or those that accidentally purchase multiples. Leave me a comment if you would be interested in learning more!
