October DT Post for Jan’s Digi Stamps

We’re kicking off a new challenge at Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge today! With the calendar telling me that its October, and the slight chill in the air, I couldn’t help but make a fall card! Well, cards… plural. I swear my intention was to make just one, but an error in sizing led me to reprinting the digi. I couldn’t just let the original printing go to waste, could I?!? No, so you benefit be getting a second card! Now, please be kind and remember I am crafter, not a photographer. I’ve been struggling trying to capture the color and shine of bling and other reflective objects but I am failing miserably. Anyone with tips or tricks, please comment below because I really need some advice! OK, disclaimer out the way… let’s talk about the cards!!!

First, let’s look at the set I’m using today from Jan’s Digi Stamps store called Harvest Scarecrow. It comes with three drawn images, in both b/w and pre-colored, subway art (also in b/w and pre-colored), and 5 sentiments!

For my first card, I wanted to try using the current sketch from Try Stampin on Tuesday challenge #477, shown below. I initially printed the digi too big so I set it aside and reprinted another *after* measuring out my dies and doing some calculations. I made the banner piece by cutting a rectangle and then using a square die to make the fishtail edge. I used a coordinating paper pad for all the layers. I added orange rhinestones, some Spectrum Noir sparkle pen, and a puffy, foil pumpkin sticker from Hobby Lobby to dress this up. I love the deep blue patterned paper with leaves, but I admit this card isn’t really my style. Here is a closeup of the card:

I kept looking at the original printing of the pre-colored digi in the Harvest Scarecrow set and I decided not to let it go to waste or end up in a bag of bits and bobs likely to never see the light of day. Using the scraps from the first card, I was able to assemble a full card from the remnants! For whatever reason, this same image and papers appeals to me more and this is definitely my favorite of the two cards! The little scene got the same sparkling treatment (and some also on the orange leaves in the paper), and the same rhinestones. Due to the larger size of the image, I didn’t feel the need to add a pumpkin sticker to this one. Here is a closer view of this card:

Now, the rest of the JDS Design Team created awesome cards so I really hope you will pop over to the Jan’s Digi Stamps challenge to see their creations, and while you are there, click the follow button so you don’t miss out on mid month inspiration! Our challenge is truly anything goes… any type of creation can be entered! So be sure to come back and enter your creations (5 entries allowed per challenge) for a chance of winning images from the Jan’s Digi Stamp store. For that matter, head to the store and check out the new releases! Thanks for taking the time to visit me today. I’ll be back in a couple days with some Halloween fun!!!

    • Never fear that you need to comment on all of my posts, especially with y erratic scheduling. I can’t imagine how you keep up with all the online friends and acquaintances, do all the commenting for the DTs you are on, *AND* post as frequently as you do!!! Lord knows I can’t keep up with it all, and I have a mere fraction of what you are juggling. Please think of me as someone you are never at risk of offending if you skip over commenting here in favor of more pressing responsibilities and valuable family time!!! I sometimes feel like I’m sailing in a boat with mutlple holes. I can only stuff my fingers into so many holes at once. I can keep it from taking on water in the bow, but then it will take on water at the stern. Occasionally I can scoop out a bunch of water with a bucket by pulling an all nighter, but then it starts to fill again from the multitude of holes! It’s working for now, but at some point I need to trade this dang boat in for something more seaworthy or get the heck out of the water! LOL
