Can you believe its September already? I can’t. But there is the barest hint of Fall in the air here in Georgia in the evenings. Before long, Christmas will be sneaking up on us! I’m getting a jump on it though, with this fun Christmas card! Our September sponsor of 2 Crafty Critter Crazies Challenge is Stamp On It, who carries several brands of stamps under their umbrella, including QKR Stampede and Eureka! Stamps. I’m using an adorable Eureka! Stamps image called Holly Doggies and the current sketch (rotated) from Sunday Stamps to make this card. Here is the sketch:

First I selected a patterned paper from an old Doodlebug paper pad. I thought the paw prints in Christmas colors was perfect. I printed my image on Bristol paper and colored it with Prismacolor pencils to coordinate with the paper. It was fun figuring out what colors to use for each dog breed, and I managed to represent my 2 dogs in the image… a yellow lab named Wally and a black Lab/Border Collie mix named Willow who is full of personality! I used a sentiment from the My Favorite Things Happy Pawlidays set, which I cut into a banner. A few adhesive rhinestones and this card was done! Looking at it now though, I need to go back and add Nuvo Glaze or Glossy accents to the berries and doggie noses!!! At least you’re getting to see if before I mess it up and accidentally smear it! 😂 Isn’t it always the final touch that ruins the card?!? Tell me its not just me… 😏

I had the hardest time getting a good photo of this card with the rainy weather we’ve been having this week. This closeup shows the colors a bit more accurately:

Its at this point you’ll want to head to the 2CCC challenge blog and see what the rest of the DT made to show you because they come up with the best ideas and coolest projects! I’ve had a sneak peak, and I know you won’t want to miss them! Be sure to link up your own critter crafts… it doesn’t have to be a card or papercraft… and show us that you are crazy for critters too. Check out Stamp On It too as they have a variety of styles within the many brands they carry and you are sure to find something to love. Thanks for dropping by!

Oops! Sorry I missed that!!! I fixed it immediately, though I am struggling with the block editor in WordPress on adding pictures. It keeps changing the alignment of my bulleted items and putting the graphic in the middle of the text. I had to add it below because it wouldn’t let me put it anywhere else without messing up the formatting. Can I respectfully suggest that in your rules in the sidebar, instead of bolding just the word “and” perhaps you should bold “and include the challenge graphic” so it stands out more. I scanned the rules and missed it. Maybe its just me, but if many of your entries are missing this graphic, this would help 😉

Thanks for adding it 🙂 I’ve made the change to the formatting of the rules, as you’ve suggested. It is mentioned at the end of every post, but hopefully that helps too. People overall do seem to be getting better about remembering it, but maybe that will help the last few who keep forgetting 🙂
That sounds annoying that the block editor does that! I haven’t had issues with it myself, but then I don’t do the bulleting so maybe that’s what makes the difference. Having the graphic below is fine. So long as it’s in the blog post it doesn’t matter where it is 🙂

I love that the block editor allows for larger pictures than the previous version but when you actually want smaller pictures side by side it is not easy to do! And yes, the bulleted list adds a whole new level of complication. I have to admit that I generally scan the rules of challenges, looking mostly for the # of entries and combining limits. The rest of the rules are usually for folks who cheat… no backdating, for example. I only know of a couple others that are sticklers for using their graphics, and I still sometimes forget to add them if I don’t play along on a regular basis. I understand why you want people to use it especially since your challenge is so new.

I don’t know if it helps with the bulleted list issue, but for getting the small pictures side by side there’s a gallery block option, which is not the same as the image block. Maybe that would work for what you want to do?
I can understand that. The way I keep track of challenges (spreadsheet) I have notes on the entry/combo limits, plus whether the graphic is meant to be included etc. Generally I err on the side of caution and if there is a graphic I include it. It’s definitely beneficial as a newer challenge but even generally speaking it’s helpful to the challenge as a way of promoting, because at least in my experience if it’s just a written list of links then people will probably skim over, whereas visitors to an entrant’s post are more likely to have their eye caught by a graphic. It’s an easy enough way to give back to the challenge 🙂 Running a challenge does take a lot of time, effort and even has a cost involved with the link tool. I’m hoping to be able to add sidebar ads to our challenge to help counter the cost, but it seems like blogger needs our blog to be more active before we can have that. Having people include graphics to challenges should generate more visitors to them which helps keep the challenges running 🙂
