Celebrate with JDS – June Mid-Month reminder

20200615_131243[1]

Hello, my crafty friends! I’m popping in with a fun card to remind you that the June challenge is still going strong at Jan’s Digi Stamps Challenge where its always Anything Goes. And I mean absolutely anything… papercrafting, sewing, jewelry, sculpture, baking, you name it! If you made it, submit it and see if you will be one of the lucky winners. Each month there are 2 draws: 1 for entries using a JDS set, and another random draw from all the entries, so if you use a JDS image you have 2 chances to win! Just make sure you are a follower in order to win!

So today’s card showcases a new set from Jan’s Digi Stamps called Independence Day Friends. The set comes with both b/w and pre-colored images. I used several of the colored images to create my little scene. I like that the fireworks are separate so you can choose to use them any way you want. The sets also come with multiple sentiments, however for my purposes I chose to use a sentiment from my stash instead. I die cut the printed image into a rectangle and stamped directly over the corner of the image. For my card base, I chose some patterned paper from my stash and cut it to show a thin white border of my card base. I popped the image on top at a jaunty angle like a photograph. I added a little sparkle and bling, and the card was done! Here’s another look:

This set features characters called Eunice and Gertrude. Jan has several themed sets with these 2 lovely ladies. If you like this one you should check out the rest. You should also pop over to the challenge blog to see what the rest of the team made for today, and to submit a creation of your own to the challenge! I’d love to see what creative things you have been up to! Thanks for coming by today. I’ll be back before you know it!

  2. I love what you’ve done with the Independence Day set, Karen! Great job with the fireworks. I have some of that same paper you used for your background and I’ve never used it because I couldn’t figure out how to make it work. You really nailed it! 😀

  4. Hi Karen, thank you for raising the point about folks who’ve already had covid. It does occur to me but there are many who refuse to wear them period. I am glad you recovered.

    • Oh, I don’t argue with you there. People can be jerks. And I probably should not have left that comment, but it was one of those days. I totally understand being worried about contracting it, especially with my autoimmune. I was diagnosed with Aspirate Pneumonia at the time I was sick because they weren’t even looking for Covid the first week of February. They thought something went down the wrong tube and started my coughing, and it led to pneumonia. 4 months later I finally got an antibody test. That was a long time living in fear. If I could get pneumonia swallowing wrong, how bad would Covid be??? Well, apparently the same. LOL Still, I get the fear… and I hate the way the media is making it worse than it needs to be. Hang in there my friend. Try to show others grace, cause there really are a ton of people out there who have had it and are no danger to others now. And do what you need to do to be safe and feel comfortable. I firmly believe we will all pull together and get past this. It depends on both the people who aren’t being considerate, and those who are not to create a divide. Lord knows we don’t need any more of that… that said, I think the media embellishes that too. My black friends are telling me that the news is not reflecting their views, their families’ views, or their community. And most are horrified that the violent protests and looting are taking them 2 steps back instead of forward. Turn off the tv and get crafty!
