Congrats, again…

Finally I’m getting around to posting this card.  Better late than never!  This is the 2nd housewarming card I made a friend/coworker of my husbands.  The first card was sweet, but this one is meant to be funny.  Have a look:

This friend is quite the colorful character, with language to match!  The guy is always full of snarky comments and quick retorts.  So at my hubby’s request, I added a Home Depot gift card and left the sentiment blank so he could add his own note… something to the effect of “Here’s a gift card… use it to buy any of the tools you thought you would borrow from me!” though I’m sure the exact quote was a bit more colorful  😉

The image was something I found off the web, original source unknown, but it seemed perfect for the purpose of this card.  I colored it up with my Promarkers.  I cut it out with a Spellbinders die from the  Labels 22 set.  The brown layer was embossed with the Paper Studio wood grain embossing folder and my eBosser.  (Man, do I love my eBosser!  The embossing is SO much crisper than my Cuttlebug.)  Since this was a guy card, I was limited on embellishments so I added a few pieces of Card Candi and called it done.  I thought about adding some brown Flower Soft to look like saw dust but figured a guy wouldn’t appreciate the effort!  Truth is, I’m kinda stingy with my supplies and I hate to use them for a card I don’t think will be kept!!!  I did get a nice complement from the recipient via my husband so I’m glad I didn’t take the easy way out and just buy a card 😉

I’m eager to share more projects with you… a Christmas card for a Silhouette challenge, a couple Halloween cards, and if I can free up some time this weekend I have a 3D project I want to get to!  Stay tuned!!!
