My BFF and I sometimes challenge each other to create a card and take turns picking a sketch to use from various websites. No pressure (usually!) and no time frame. I find that our friendly challenges are a great way to make me carve out some crafty time in my busy week… or just give me the kick in the butt I need to get my mojo flowing! Today’s card is another from deconstructingjen.com (more about it here: http://deconstructingjen.com/deconstructed-sketch-119/). I’m really pleased with how this one turned out:
I had so much fun with this one!!! The complete die cut set is from Miss Kate Cuttables and can be found at http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/50-store/freebie-of-the-day-halloween-owl.php for a mere 50 cents! They have the cutest files and offer daily freebies… yes, I said daily!!! In fact, all the die cuts on the card were in one set that also included a cemetery fence… as a freebie a few weeks back. Can’t beat that! I also used the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch, which just begged to be embellished with Stickles. I added more Stickles to the owl and stars, some faux stitching, and a little hi-lighting with a white gel pen and it was done! I finished the card off with a strip of stickled Drippy Goo on the inside and a clear glitter sentiment sticker that has probably been in my stash for years. Whoo-hoo… using up that stash a little at a time!
My friend and I decided that we could make Halloween cards quickly and easily cause we don’t really tailor them to the recipient’s personality like we would a birthday card, and you have fewer decisions to make about colors and embellishments. That said, you may be seeing quite a few Halloween cards here over the next few weeks!!!
