My sweet little hop group I started is at it again! Last month I was so stinkin’ proud and amazed at what these folks can do when you give them a simple prompt! Each month is a combination of theme and recommended supply that we’ve squirreled away and needs some love. If you remember last month was Critters and/or Stencils. If you missed it, this link will take you to my post and the full hop lineup. Today, you should have arrived here from the mega talented Lounon Riviere, and the next stop will be the amazing Donna Perisic. Don’t worry, I’ll put her link below too so you can continue to hop along! This month is Outdoors theme and/or Patterned Paper, and I’m so excited to see what my Squirrel Sisters and our scurry of skilled squirrels have made! Ok, I’m so pumped to show you what I made too! Check it out!
Do you like my slimline critter scene? I had so much fun paper piecing and thinking how to incorporate patterned paper into my scene! The grass paper for the… well, *grass*, and the cloud paper for the sky are both from Doodlebug who makes the cutest paper ever. Since the paper was 6×6 and the slimline card is 8″ long I had to get creative with piecing it together. I think I did a decent job of hiding the seams. The red/white gingham paper was a scrap in my stash. The images and sentiment are from 2 MFT sets, Scene Builder for the horizon line, trees and clouds, and Picnic Pals for the critters and accessories. I was tempted to paper piece the critters too, but decided against it when I couldn’t find paper to work. Instead, I watercolored the images with Tombow markers. For finishing touches, I popped up the sentiment and some of the images for dimension, added black Glaze pen to the critters eyes and noses, and used a Spectrum Noir clear sparkle pen (my favorite was of embellishing) on the clouds and watermelon.
I hope you have a little time to hop along with us this weekend so you can see all the creative interpretations of this theme, and hopefully find your new favorite bloggers in the process!!! If you like what you see, leave the tab open so you can explore the rest of the blog and consider subscribing so that you know when we post again. You can also find me on Instagram @misplacedmojo and I’d love if you would follow me there!!! You can always click through my profile to be taken to my blog for more info on each project. OK, next up is the uber creative Donna Perisic, who is also known for making incredible scene cards! I’m sure you will love her project!!! In case you get lost along the way, here is the full hop line up:
Thanks for hopping by today and stay tuned because this will be a busy card week!!! 😉

Well dang, if this isn’t just perfect? The scale of all the elements in the scene is perfect, your water coloring of the cute critters (of course there is a squirrel, which one of us is it?) is perfect, and the patterned papers you chose are perfect! I’m so glad you started this crafty adventure and invited me to tag along! 🙂

AS, thank you so much Marie! You know what’s funny? I just assumed you would be in so I saved talking to you for last. Somehow I just knew we would be (squirrel) sisters even before we did! Between your cards being just my style, and your fun personality from the Meet the Creator video, I just KNEW we were gonna be friends (whether you liked it or not! Ha!) 😁 Could not imagine doing this without your input and sass! Besides, who else do I know who truly appreciates the value Michael Nesmith added to the world?!? Just you and me (and probably some fan club I know nothing about… pfft). Gotta run… time for artichoke pizza!!! 🤣 Love ya, Marie!

You’ve added four of my most favorite things in this card: slimline, coloring, critters, and a scene card. I love me a good scene card, especially critters (SQEEEEE!!!).

Donna, that was just the sweetest comment I got on this post! Thanks sweetie!!! And we have been trying to put the camper to good use, even though Covid! My dogs love being able to go with us on vacation and that alone was totally worth the investment. My one and only child, no longer a child at 19, has really enjoyed it too and I was hoping to take it out west this summer but Covid changed our plans. Plenty to see in the southeast so we’re staying closer to home for now. Thank you for the super sweet words, my friend. It was lovely having you as my neighbor in the hop! 💗

Its been too blasted hot here for picnics, so I had to live vicariously through the critters! Today was so nice I spent the whole day outdoors… courtesy of the hurricane on the coast. It will skirt us, but it pulled heat and humidity to the east coast leaving us almost 10 degrees lower in temps and wonderfully breezy. You probably have much milder summers there. I’m sorry your state hasn’t opened up at least a little. So tough with so much closed down and not much to do. Hang in there friend!!!
