Art Impressions – Spring Chicken

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

I’ve got a quick, clean and simple card for you today using the set called Spring Chicken from Art Impressions. Art Impressions holds monthly challenges and the theme this month is Spring. I couldn’t resist using this image and sentiment for the challenge, though I had fun playing with the other images from the set that you will likely see soon 😉 I thought this was also fitting as we recently adjusted the time for Daylight Savings… Fall Back, Spring Ahead!!!

I stamped the image and sentiment on the same panel and die cut it with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die. I watercolored the image and ground with Tombow markers. Then I stamped the image again on Inkadinkado masking paper and covered the image. I ink blended with a small makeup brush with a light blue ink from Impression Obsession called Sea Glass, letting the color fade out from the center. I peeled off the mask, attached the panel to a matching blue patterned paper from my stash of 6×6 pads, and then mounted that to the card base. I’m leaving the inside sentiment off for now, but thinking I may make this a birthday card or a pick-me-up for one of my middle aged friends when they feel older than they are. 😁

I’ve been relieved to not have to send out any get well cards through this whole Covid19 scare. I don’t know a single person affected, thankfully, though my hearts go out to those who have or worse yet have lost loved ones. I’m VERY thankful to not be making sympathy cards too! I’m curious… have you had friends or family get infected? How bad was it??? Hope y’all are toughing out the voluntary isolation, sheltering in place, lockdown, and/or quarantine and using your time to get crafty!!! Be smart, be safe, and be crafty!!!

ETA: This card won the Golden Egg Award from Krafty Chicks!!!

I’m submitting this card to the following challenges:

  1. Fab card! I love the stamp and will be adding that to my ever growing wish list. I wondered if you masked the image before adding the blue around it. Once I fussy cut a mask like that I save it with the stamp so I don’t need to cut it again. I’m on a self-made comment challenge today. Perhaps you’d like to join? I love receiving comments and thought I’d share the joy. Hugs,

    • Thank you so much for the sweet words! When this Covid19 scare is over, check out your local Michaels for this set from AI as I’m pretty sure I got it there when they were clearancing sets. Its still available on AI’s website and elsewhere though… not being discontinued… just Michaels making room for new stuff. I’ve been crazy busy and couldn’t take you up on your challenge yet, but I will drop by your blog shortly to get to “know” you better 😁 I appreciate your comment here so much. Its not often I get a comment that isn’t the obligatory DT comment. Oh, and yes! I masked the image so I could ink blend the blue around it. I colored the image first and was especially worried the blue background and yellows of the chicken would make green if they overlapped at all! BTW, I love the name of your blog!!!

  6. This gave me a chuckle. I love that chicken on springs! Great CAS card. Yes, it’s heartbreaking to hear of those who have gotten sick and worse, died from this awful virus. I’ve been trying to make thank you and thinking of you card for friends/family and healthcare workers. My husband is an ER nurse here in NC so he’s on the frontlines. We put out a request from neighbors for supplies for his hospital and it’s been nice to see many donating. Stay healthy and safe and keep crafting! Thanks for sharing this adorable card with Krafty Chicks this week.

    • Thank you for the sweet words on my card, and for a peek at what is happening in your town. Please, if you don’t mind… tell me what kind of donations you requested for the hospital so I may have an idea of what I can donate to my local hospital. I’m sure you have a heart of worry for your hubby and the rest of your family, knowing he’s on the frontlines and you may not know for weeks if he caught it, and then spread it to you or other loved ones. Thank you and thinking of you cards are a brilliant idea! I have a stash already… I will be mailing them out very shortly!!! Sheriff’s office, local fire station, nursing home, and my favorite pizza place that remained open for delivery 😁 You take care of yourself out there!!!
