Friendship Hop 3 card bonanza!

The amazing Courtney Kreeber has organized an awesome hop of crafters in the community that you may not have heard of before along with the help of Renee Moran. I’m thrilled to be a part of the group! The first hop has a friendship theme to bring us together, especially as most of us don’t have any crafty friends IRL. I got so excited, I couldn’t stop at 1 card, so I made 3!!! Let’s get to it!

First up is a super fun card made with My Favorite Things Sunshine and Friendship set. I had such a great time coloring up all these images with Prismacolor pencils that I had to include them ALL! The background is ink blended with Distress Oxides and a blender brush. I added accents with a white gel pen to the images and added a black gelly roll pen to the eyes and noses of the critters. The sentiment from the set was stamped in Versaclair Nocturne and heat embossed in clear. I love how this card turned out! I didn’t blend out the coloring with Gamsol for the critters so they would have fur like texture. Next up is something a little different…

Like many card makers, I love coloring floral images! This beauty is from Ink On 3’s Dogwood Flower set. Again, I used my Prismacolor pencils to add color, using only the pencils this time to blend. The simply fabulous sentiment (pun intended) is from the same set. I used a frame die from Spellbinders called Candlewick to showcase the focal image. A few sequins from my stash in pink and black, and this card was done! This card came together surprisingly fast, given that I colored while watching my son play video games. The rest just fell in place!

This last card is another critter scene. I bought a few *cough… bunch… cough* of MFT’s sets with Christmas money and I was eager to use another one. These cuties are from a set appropriately named Squirrel! and were also colored with Prismacolors. Same routine… oxide background, Prismacolors, sequins, done! And what about that sentiment… I love that we’re all crazy about this hobby and that y’all *get it* when I say I had so much fun I couldn’t stop!

Well, that’s it for me today. Big shout out to Courtney for pulling this together!!! I’m just as eager as you guys to check out the rest of stops on the hop. Next up on the hop is Teresa with a YouTube video at her channel, so head on over and see what she created. And be sure to swing by Courtney’s blog and YouTube channel for all the details and the full list of participants. Be sure to subscribe along the hop to the crafters that made you smile today! 9. Wow 3 cards, you’re magical! The beach scene floats my boat (pun intended), we have a small condo at the beach and we love it! All of your cards are fabulous! Thanks so much for sharing your time & creativity!!!

    • I lived on the beach my first 20 years, so it holds a place in my heart too. Now I’m in the mountains of north GA and love the change in atmosphere and weather! In FL the only seasons were HOT and REALLY HOT. But we get a little bit of each season here with an occasional snow, but not enough to have to shovel your driveway! Thank you so much for the sweet comment. I don’t ever think I’ve been called magical before!!! LOL

      • Too funny! I kinda figured it was you though 😁😂🤣 And *huge* thank you for pulling this whole thing together… not just the blog hop but the group in general. I am bummed that I won’t be able to attend your first public group event as I live too far away in GA, but I hope it goes so amazingly well that you venture out far enough for me to catch one!!!

    • You and everybody else, my friend! I may not have to have ALL the flower stamps, but I’m embarrassed to admit how many I do have… especially considering most of my cards are for my hubby and son. My bestie gets all the flower cards I make 😁

  12. Great variety of cards, Karen! I am partial to the critters myself…love those squirrels!! 🤎🤎

    • I think we are all suckers for the critter cards and images! I love the squirrels too… the other sentiments are a hoot too. I realized I need more pencils cause I didn’t have enough browns for both the squirrels and the acorns, so I had to go gray. I can’t wait to use this stamp set again when I have more color options!!!

  14. I love your cards. Your beach one made me long for summer, i am not sure it is coming to NH this year! Your critters are just adorable. I can’t color critters at all!

    • Ah, thanks Heidi! Spring always follows winter, you get never know how much of each you will end up getting! Our winter here in GA ended with a big finale of snow, but I’m thinking its almost done. Still, I was longing for sun and fun so these cards were extra fun to make. And if I can color critters, you can too. I know my coloring is still a work in progress, and would get better if I were using paper designed for pencil, but I enjoy having flexibility. Sometimes I stamp without knowing what medium I will be using and Bristol gives me more options, so that was what I used. It won’t take as many layers of pencil as other papers, but its been working ok for me if you don’t look too close. LOL Like anything else, it just takes the willingness to practice!

    • Rach, I’m so glad you liked them all. I am a total sucker for critter cards, and that swimming card was my fav of the 3! I’ve been working on my pencil coloring a lot lately and this floral card was the best I’ve done so far. With each card I learn a little more. I’m actually eager to try coloring that stamp again soon to see if I can make it look more realistic.

I have made cards with MFT stamps that I’ve never posted specifically because I felt I didn’t do them justice! Thank you so much for your kind words. I’ll be smiling all day 😁

    • I’m so glad you liked it! I was actually disappointed in how that card turned out because I really wanted the squirrels to be brown but I was limited to the few browns I had in my collection. I colored the acorns first and was frustrated that the only other brown I had for the squirrels was so dark that I’d lose all the details. I *really* need to get more pencils! I’m thinking about trying the Polychromos too… I may end up doing both cause I love to color so much!

      Like

      • You did a great job with the limited colors you had.. I’m thinking of getting polychromos too but it’s quite an investment so I’ll wait awhile.. But go for it! You’ll have so much fun with them! 💕

        • I was thinking I really needed to try just one or two first, but I don’t really want to end up with duplicates. Gotta start hinting to the hubby that I want them for Mother’s Day… AND talk about how hard it is to use the Prisma’s since I didn’t get the full set. At least then I may get the whole set of Polychromos… and in the meantime, I can keep adding to my Prisma collection a couple at a time! 😄 Thank you for the sweet comment Anna!
