MFT Birthday Challenge – Feeling Sentimental

MisplacedMojo.com MisplacedMojo.com

This month’s birthday challenge at MFT is text based only, no images! Initially I thought that was a tough challenge but then the mojo started flowing and the ideas kept coming! This is my first attempt, using MFT Birthday Speech Bubbles in a rainbow of colors. I added strips of diagonal  striped paper from MFT’s black and white striped paper pack to the edges of the card base. Then I trimmed down the stamped panel and popped it on top. Added a few flat matte black epoxy dots from Eyelet Outlet and it was done! Easy peasy!!! I have to admit that while I had these stamps out, I stamped off a couple others in different color combos, so you may see this card’s cousin very soon!

I am submitting this card to the following challenges:

  1. I really like your rainbow speech bubbles. Text only! Now there’s a challenge! I do think that the strips of striped paper you’ve added really add some oomph to the design – great choice! Thanks for playing along with us at Retro Rubber Challenge.

  8. Great card and love the multi coloured speech bubbles .Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment on my grandaughters cards -she did everything her self too from choosing the papers to match the images to finding the little bows I didn’t even realise I still had lol

    • The complements were truly genuine! I adored her designs and am thrilled to see a younger generation not only show interest in papercrafting, but to show such an aptitude for design. Seriously, take a look at the other entries to this challenge alone and you will see her cards are superior to many submitted by full grown adults with years of stamping and papercrafting experience. Well balanced designs do not come naturally to everyone. Also, I envy her ability to decisively select papers and have them be great choices. Most of us agonize over all the options and still aren’t confident after we finally made our choices. Part of that is skill and part quite frankly is just the freedom of youth. Not worrying about possible wasting paper or it being too pretty to use and so it must be hoarded. Don’t we all hoard something crafty we feel is too precious to use on just any project??? I bet we all created with total abandon in our younger years before we adopted adult views on costs, availability, and worst of all is judgement from others. Keep doing a spectacular job of fostering her creativity and focus her on the joy of creating something she thinks the recipient will like and not necessarily on the comments or “likes” it will get online. And teach her that is OK to create for the sake of creating, without a recipient in mind, or a purpose for her creation. We learn so much just playing with supplies when we don’t feel obligated to make it “useful”. I look forward to seeing more of her (and your) creations!
