2 Crafty Critter Crazies and the Paper Shelter

I’m proud to announce that I have joined the ladies at 2 Crafty Critter Crazies on their Design Team! Be sure to head over and check out their fun challenge blog where every month they want you to feature any critter on your project! Fun, right? November’s challenge is sponsored by The Paper Shelter, where you can find a ton of incredible digi stamps and printables. Be sure to grab your beverage of choice and kick back awhile while you peruse their store!

Today’s cards (yes, plural!) uses a digi called Holy Night from The Paper Shelter. Isn’t this deer adorable?!? I had so much fun with this image I had to make 2 cards!!!

First up is the teal version… click on any picture to enlarge it.

I printed the digi on Bristol paper and colored with Prismacolor pencils, then die cut it with a Spellbinders circle die, then ink blended the edge. I layered the focal image on a Spellbinders small scallop circle die in white. I used Rinea foil paper in teal on the lower left corner and teal card stock on the upper right, separated by a dark teal strip. My sentiment is from Power Poppies Glistening Paperwhites set, stamped in teal and both the sentiment strip and its mat were cut at the same angle as the background. The snowflakes are from the Momenta Snowflake Border die set, which I cut apart to use individually. I added gems from Pretty Pink Posh’s Starry Sky mix. Now for the purple edition:

Mostly the same materials, but slightly different layout! This time the focal image and mat was die cut with Pink & Main’s stitched rounded rectangle dies, and with purple Rinea foil. I cut the background papers on a diagonal added strips of white glitter paper to separate the colors. More of the same snowflake dies, only this time embellished with flat back adhesive pearls from Want 2 Scrap. This one uses a sentiment from a stamp set by Holiday Trendz (aka Forever in Time) called Poinsettia.

So which version do you prefer? Please leave me a comment and let me know, and be sure to head over to 2CCC and our sponsor The Paper Shelter!

    • Thank you Lynn!!! That was so kind to say! I had the hardest time deciding which to post on the 2CCC blog, and finally had to enlist a friend for her opinion! Was so nervous as it is my 1st DT post ever and wanted to make a good impression! I’m excited about the November challenge and to help out with the commenting too. I think I’m just on the team for 3 months, unless it gets extended after my term. The ladies I’ve chatted with are so sweet and supportive! Thank you for the warm welcome and kind words!!!

    • Thank you for the warm welcome!!! And, so glad you liked the cards! I had a hard time picking which one to add to the 2CCC blog and decided to let my bestie pick her favorite. Purple and teal are some of my favorite colors too, so I couldn’t make just one!!! Besides, it gave me an excuse to play with the Rinea foil paper I got at the stamp show. I’ve had it sitting on my desk for months waiting for the perfect project! Will be hopping over shortly to see how you used this amazing image!!!

    • Thank you so much Anne! I couldn’t pick a favorite and had the hardest time deciding which to post to the 2CCC post. I finally enlisted my friend to pick her favorite and went with that one! I am still wanting to create red and pink versions, especially after seeing Lynn and Ine’s versions.

  6. Congrats on the DT position – and way to come out of the gate with 2 beautiful cards! I can’t choose a favorite because each one has it’s own special look and they’re both great! I love the blue colors, snowflakes, and diagonal angles of the design on the first, but the second has gorgeous colors, frames, and a completely different look with the same image! Well done on both, and thanks for the kind words left on my blog too 🙂

    • Aw, shucks! I’m blushing!!! Thank you for the very sweet comments on my cards! You just have to love this community of crafters for their incredible support of fellow crafters! I was amazed to see the variety of amazing but different takes using the same image by the rest of the DT. Oh, and I promise you, I took the DT position with the intent to be honest in my “obligatory” commenting. You can always find something nice to say without making it up. I truly loved your card and wish you the best of luck on the challenge. I wish you luck with Blogger too!!! Over the years I have been spared many issues fellow bloggers experienced by going with WordPress. It was much tougher to navigate as a newbie VS Bloggers’ easy to start platform, but I’ll take that over the dropped subscribers, emails not going out as scheduled, comment issues, etc that Blogger has had. Speaking of subscribers, I’m a new subbie of your blog 🙂
